"Sthenos Athletics Challenge was awesome! It was a great group of people and we came to class each week ready to work out hard. I had never been a runner before, so I when I started I was a little nervous. They gave us workouts that built up our endurance so that by the end of the 8 weeks, I'm proud to say that I completed the 5k without stopping! I jogged the whole thing-- what an accomplishment!
Each class we had a different workout. We started class with a warm-up to get the blood flowing and then moved into stretching and mobility with Coach Ben guiding us through each movement. After that we had a intense but different workout for a half hour, with a variety of movements that were timed or we tried to achieve as many reps as possible. The coaches took time to work with me to get the right form. Coach Ben and everyone else in the class was very encouraging. He even took the time to modify some of my workouts due to dealing with a past knee injury.
The BEST THING was seeing the results of my summer boot camp journey. I lost 5 pounds and 7 1/2 inches in my waist, hips, legs and arms. I have not only seen amazing results physically but mentally as well. My stress and anxiety levels are down and I used to deal with insomnia and take medication-- not anymore!

"When we oved to Minnesota 4 years ago, I got out my routine and didn’t make time for exercise. 3 -1/2 years later I had put on 20 pounds and found myself shopping for larger pants. I knew that I needed a change as working out on my own wasn’t getting the results I wanted. The Sthenos Challenge was the answer. It was a great experience. The workouts were intense but I always left with a great feeling of accomplishment. By the end I had lost 15 pounds, 3 inches off my waist and saw my cholesterol drop by 60 points. And I finished the a 5K with a PR!
After the Challenge ended I wanted to keep the momentum going so I decided to join CrossFit. I have to admit that I was a bit intimidated by CrossFit. I am glad I made the jump. Ryan and Ben are great coaches, they push you to your limits and at the same time scale the workouts to your abilities. And the other members are great people, very supportive of each other while pushing themselves to achieve their fitness goals. I have definitely seen better results through coach led sessions than I ever have on my own. I’ve lost another 5 pounds and shaved another 2 minutes off my 5k time. The only downside is the expense of buying smaller pants!!"

Tell us about your athletic background:
Wrestling (high school), soccer (college), basketball, and wake boarding.
Tell us about your CrossFit experience: I was a little hesitant and unsure of myself at first, but once I committed to making CrossFit part of my lifestyle the results have exceeded my expectations. The CrossFit community continues to keep me on track.
Favorite CrossFit workout: Murph or any longer high volume wod. I love the buzz in our gym with large group workouts.
Least favorite workout: Fran, or anything with thrusters.
Favorite CrossFit moments: Witnessing my CrossFit friends getting their first muscle up.
Any advice for beginners or people looking to start CrossFit?: Show up to class, listen to your coaches, scale when necessary, be patient, and the results you're looking for will happen! The CrossFit community will be with you every step of the way.
About Erik in his words: I had been active most of my life in sports and in the gym. However, after 2 kids and a demanding career my workouts became few and far between, and much less productive. In the winter of 2013 I weighed almost 215 pounds. At that point I knew I needed to make a change. In the spring of 2014 I joined Crossfit Rogers and instantly started seeing results. Since joining Crossfit I've lost 25 pounds and been able to get stronger in the process.
Favorite workout: Fight Gone Bad
Least favorite: Anything that involves running or double unders!
Favorite movement: Bench and pull ups
Any advice for beginners or people looking into CrossFit? Don't be nervous if you're not "fit" There are plenty of scaling options and before you know it you'll see results!
I have been married for six years to Kyle Jepsen. We have a 5 year-old daughter, Bryson, 2 year-old, Trey, and a 6 month-old son, Jayce. We are both chiropractors, and we own HealthSource of Rogers and HealthSource of Shoreview. We live in Rogers and love it!
What lead you to start CrossFit?
I was VERY frustrated with my body. I had given birth to our second child in September 2012 and the weight did NOT come off like it did the first time. I had some okay results with some at home videos (insanity and T-25), but I was sick of doing workouts in front of the TV. I was not motivated and frustrated.
Tell us about your athletic/workout background prior to CrossFit?
In high school, I was a competitive figure skater and played basketball. In college, I played basketball my first two years. I then decided to hang up the shoes and focus on my future in chiropractic.
Tell us about your CrossFit experience...
My experience has been wonderful. One month after starting CrossFit, I found out I was pregnant with our third baby. I worked out until 9 months pregnant and it was the BEST thing for my pregnancy and me!! I bounced back soooooo fast after giving birth. I had more energy, I had a healthy body and it was fun to get back into shape again. I love members here and the coaches. Everyone is so encouraging and fun to be around. This is the one place I HAVE to come to each week for me.
Favorite workout and/or movement?
I love lifting weights!! I think back squats are my favorite; they make me feel strong.
Any favorite CrossFit moments/memories?
The day I tried a true pull up, my chin was over the bar :0)))))))))
Any advice for beginners or people looking to start CrossFit?
I hear people say they "need to get into shape first before coming to the gym" and this is so UNTRUE!! Come to the gym because you will get into shape faster then you could imagine!!
